INTRODUCING SPIEDO

Our forthcoming sister restaurant, is opening in Ann Arbor later this Spring at 307 S Fifth Ave. Those who have been in the area for awhile may remember the location was formerly home of the original Takoi pop up back in 2015 and 2016.

Spiedo, which is the Italian word for skewer/spit, explores the culinary possibilities of the only two pieces of cooking equipment in our tiny kitchen...a vertical rotisserie and a vintage flattop griddle we inherited with the space. The ever evolving menu takes inspiration from the unique and explosive flavors found at both Takoi and Magnet (RIP), Chef Brad's Italian culinary roots and Chef Michael Goldberg's love for Israeli food. Expect a much more casual vibe with a heavy dose of color and unhinged fun.

Leading up to the opening, we are reinitiating our residency at Root as a test kitchen for Spiedo.  Over the coming weeks we'll be testing out recipe ideas, honing the menu and then making the results available for carry-out. Our test kitchen will be Friday and Saturday each week leading up to the opening of the restaurant from 5pm until 9pm. For now, orders will need to be placed in advance and then picked up at Root located at 210 S.1st St. in downtown Ann Arbor.  All orders will be at the host stand which can be accessed by heading through the courtyard, towards the railroad tracks, and entering through the last set of double doors at the rear of the building (right side of courtyard).  PLACE YOUR CARRY-OUT ORDER HERE.
